Hugh Sexey CofE Middle School (HSMS) uses Airserver screen mirroring software which runs on the classroom PC or Laptop. It is configured to run whenever anyone logs onto the PC. You can check that Airserver is running by “showing hidden icons” and looking for the Airsever iconthis should be running in the background.

Each PC is given a unique name known as the host name you can see the host name by looking in the top right hand corner of the desktop. AIrserver broadcasts the host name to advertise its service to the client, iPad in this case. When HSMS only had one network there was no choice so the iPad could see all hosts without any configuration. When HSMS introduced the HSMSGuest network it is not possible for the iPad to automatically detect which network the classroom PC or Laptop was broadcasting on i.e. the iPad needs to specify which host it was to attach to.

Identify the host – Right clicking the Airserver icon and select “QR Code for Airserver Connect”. This can be displayed on the laptop screen and therefore the projector.

Locating the Host with the iPad – on the iPad run the app “AirServer Connect” and select “Scan QR Code”. If you cannot scan the QR code it may be because the AirServer Connect app does not have access to the camera. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and move the slider to green to allow Connect to have access. A new QR code is generated every time you logon to the PC.

Attached to the Host – on the iPad “swipe up” from the bottom of the screen to show the “Control Centre” and Tap “AirPlay Mirroring” and select the host you want to connect to.
